I've always strived for my images and my stories to reflect different aspects of my inner thoughts without being tied together.
Yet, recently after updating my website and rereading the old blogs that I had originally uploaded for my college writing class, I saw it in a different light.
I hold black-and-white photography closely to my heart. It's something that both the image and my words mean a lot. I wrote a blog about my reflections and recently revised it to my current feelings which I would love to share:
Black and white images capture a different essence than color, unveiling emotions that color often leaves untold. They transform the ordinary into the extraordinary by using subtle shades—where the greens, reds, and blues once flourished, only shadows and light remain to whisper stories that words cannot capture.
To admire a photograph for its colors is effortless, invites us to linger. It requires us to look deeper—not just at the image, but at the feelings it stirs within. Every glance becomes more intimate, every detail more profound.
Black and white photography is about an eye for detail and establishing a feeling, an emotion, or a vibe. Obtaining the ability of knowing whether a photograph would benefit better as a black and white is a useful technique.
I am drawn to black and white for the way it breathes life into my concepts—moody, intriguing, and enduring.
The shift to black and white didn’t just change my photography—it elevated it, bringing out a depth I hadn’t anticipated. With every shot, I found myself falling deeper into the craft, exploring not just what I could see, but what I could feel. And with that, my work grew richer, more meaningful—just as my love for photography deepened.
